<p>This Friday, the workshop “Working with Digital Topographic Maps” will be rescheduled to accommodate a demonstration of GeoPDF technology by Adam Estrada and Jesse Hardin of TerraGo Technologies. GeoPDF enables users to view, manipulate and update maps and images within an Adobe Reader environment. Users can measure length and area, change coordinate displays, search for attributes and view layers. This publication medium and geospatial tool has signification potential for both research and instruction.</p>

The website includes sample maps.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year’s first <a title="Life of the Mind" href="http://www.emory.edu/PROVOST/lectureseriesandseminars/lifeofthemind.php" target="_blank">Life of the Mind lectures</a> is on Thursday, September 25 at 4:00 PM in the Jones Room of <a title="Woodruff Library" href="http://web.library.emory.edu/" target="_blank">Woodruff Library</a>, and features Lance Waller, Professor of Biostatistics in the Rollins School of Public Health. Speaking on “Maps, Mysteries and Medicine,” Professor Waller will discuss how new research using maps and spatial information can help reveal ways to promote conservation and fight diseases.</p>
