GeoPDF Demonstration

Event: GeoPDF Demonstration with Adam Estrada and Jesse Hardin of TerraGo Technologies.

This Friday, the workshop “Working with Digital Topographic Maps” will be rescheduled to accommodate a demonstration of GeoPDF technology by Adam Estrada and Jesse Hardin of TerraGo Technologies. GeoPDF enables users to view, manipulate and update maps and images within an Adobe Reader environment. Users can measure length and area, change coordinate displays, search for attributes and view layers. This publication medium and geospatial tool has signification potential for both research and instruction.

The geospatial workstations at the Electronic Data are licensed for access to TerraGo Technologies Publisher Suite** in which you can create a geo-enabled PDF for others to view using Adobe Acrobat Reader and the GeoPDF Toolbar which is available freely from their site. The website includes sample maps.

SimplyMap Demonstration

SimplyMap Interface

This year Emory Libraries obtained licenses for faculty, staff, and student access to SimplyMap (view previous posting), an online mapping tool and database. Next Tuesday, we welcome Steven Schwartz who will present a demonstration and question session on how to use this valuable resource to extract data and quickly construct maps.

SimplyMap is a web-based mapping application that lets users quickly create professional-quality thematic maps and reports using powerful demographic, business, and marketing data. SimplyMap turns complex data into valuable information that is easily accessed through an innovative and user-friendly interface.
