Locating Maps and Geospatial Data

Get tips on finding maps and geospatial data and learn about new and important changes in spatial data infrastructures. Techniques on how to convert analog source data to digital will also be covered.

Maps, Mysteries, and Medicine

This year’s first Life of the Mind lectures is on Thursday, September 25 at 4:00 PM in the Jones Room of Woodruff Library, and features Lance Waller, Professor of Biostatistics in the Rollins School of Public Health. Speaking on “Maps, Mysteries and Medicine,” Professor Waller will discuss how new research using maps and spatial information can help reveal ways to promote conservation and fight diseases.

ESRI Data and Maps Version 9.3

The latest version of Data and Maps is now available for access at the EDC. Access is restricted to Emory faculty, students, and staff. Please see EDC for assistance. This set includes:

  • Basemap and thematic MXDs for North America, Mexico, Europe, and the World
  • Commercial data from Tele Atlas, AND Mapping, WorldSat, EarthSat, Michael  Bauer Research, World Wildlife Fund, SIGSA, and ESRI
  • 90-meter Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) dataset
  • All levels of U.S. Census geography and ZIP Codes
  • Tele Atlas 2003-based StreetMap North America

ADC World Map Digital Atlas

The EDC has acquired the ADC WorldMap Digital Atlas 5.1 which includes seamless detailed geographic data for the entire world.  The data is available at either of the geospatial/mapping workstations within the EDC.  Data access is restricted to Emory faculty, staff, and students for use in mapping projects. Please see EDC staff for access and assistance to this resource.
